Tagungsankündigung: | INTERNATIONAL STANDING CONFERENCE FOR THE HISTORY OF EDUCATION (ISCHE) ISCHE XXIV – Paris 2002 SECONDARY EDUCATION Institutional, Cultural and Social History Lycée Louis-le-Grand, July 10-13, 2002 Paris 2002 ISCHE XXIV is organised under the patronage of the Minister of Education, by the Service d’histoire de l’éducation (SHE-INRP/CNRS) and by the University of Paris - Sorbonne. A Patronage Commission is being set up. Conference Themes Secondary education, the history of which is generally far from being studied as much as primary and higher education, is yet a very rich subject. In the past, secondary education used to give a general education and a common culture to a future social elite. In more democratic societies, where education for all has become an economic asset as well as a right, it had and it still has to adapt to mass education, by diversifying or by offering a new culture, and new methods to pass it on. The historical interests as well as the present stakes of this question have led ISCHE XXIV’s organizing committee to propose the theme of secondary education, in the broadest sense of the word - any post-elementary education aimed at teenagers - without chronological or geographical limits. On the occasion of the bicentenary of the creation of lycées, ISCHE XXIV is organized in France where secondary education - organized and controlled by the state - has long represented the core of the educational system. It may be the starting point of comparative reflections on the following themes: Political, institutional and administrative history Schools and school communities as subjects of study Teachers Models, courses and curricula Information und Kontakt: http://www.inrp.fr/she/ische24.htm |
